Staying Well Hydrated in Hot Weather!

Do you keep your body well hydrated during hot weather? How do you do it? I think most of us try to drink more water, and then we run out of ideas. Well, I’d like to introduce you to some new ideas because hydrating foods are delicious foods. Yes, hydrating foods can be your hot weather solution along with liquids such as water, herbal teas, fruit juice popsicles and smoothies. Here is my earlier blog about hydrating liquids for more tips.

Choosing Hydrating Foods!

Here is a list of foods that have a lot of water in them, making them great for hydration. Remember, drinking water is great. And eating ‘watery’ foods is even better because of the extra nutrition you’ll get. And, most important, hydrating foods are delicious foods so get ready to enjoy!

Hydrating Foods List. All of these have 90% or more water, by weight, so make them regulars at your meal table: cucumbers, lettuce, celery, radishes, tomatoes, Bell peppers, cauliflower, watermelon, spinach, star fruit, strawberries, broccoli, grapefruit, cantaloupe, carrots

Hydrating Watermelon Salad Recipe!

Mix together to make a side salad for 4 people or a large, lunch salad for 2 people:

2-3 cups watermelon cubes

1 small cucumber (I like the pickling cucumbers because they are so crunchy)

1/4 medium sweet onion

1/4 -1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese

4-6 fresh mint leaves, cut into thin ribbons

juice of 1/2 lime

New Ideas for Healthier Choices!
