5 Ways to Eat More Mediterranean Foods

  1. Include a colorful fruit and a colorful veggie for breakfast. For example, an orange and some cherry tomatoes; or a banana and a few celery sticks; or some melon and a small spinach salad.
  2. Choose a simple lunch. For example, a bowl of lentil soup and a slice of avocado toast; or a tuna sandwich on whole wheat and a fruit salad with a dollop of plain yogurt; or a leafy green salad with colorful veggie toppings and one slice of mushroom pizza on the side.
  3. Eat smart snacks. For example, 5-6 olives and 5-6 baby carrots; or a few whole grain crackers topped with nut butter; or bell pepper strips dipped in hummus.
  4. Choose fruit for dessert. For example, half a large apple sprinkled with cinnamon; or a nice wedge of cantaloupe or watermelon; or a handful of fresh figs (or 3-4 dried figs.)
  5. Drink simply. For example, water, sparkling water without added sugar, or a cup of coffee or tea.
