Go Bananas this Summer – Frozen, That Is!

September 17, 2024 By Cindy Silver

Bananas at grocery store
Everyone loves bananas!

Frozen Banana Popsicles!

I’ve decided that a frozen banana is the healthiest popsicle there is. You’ve got to try it. They are super cheap to buy, super healthy compared to other popsicles and they last in the freezer for weeks. Another cool thing is that if you’re not in the mood for a banana popsicle, then you can make something else with a frozen banana, like a smoothie. I’m not saying that frozen strawberries, raspberries, peach slices and cantaloupe chunks aren’t also very tasty when frozen, because they are. Bananas, though, are my #1 popsicle choice.

How to Make a Banana Popsicle!

This has got to be the easiest recipe you’ll ever make. Trust me. Here are the steps:

1. Buy a bunch of really ripe bananas. When I buy the ones that are on ‘markdown’ at the grocery store because they have brown spots on the peel, my banana popsicles are the best ever.

2. Peel the bananas and cut each one in half.

3. Get out some Saran wrap (or waxed paper) and tear off pieces about 6 inches long. You’ll need one per popsicle.

4. Wrap up each banana half in a piece of Saran wrap (or waxed paper).

5. Put bananas in the freezer for 24 hours and then enjoy!

Getting Fancy with Banana Popsicles!

You can get fancy by dipping your banana popsicle in chocolate syrup as you eat it. Or, before freezing, try rolling the banana in vanilla yogurt and then chopped up nuts or granola. Yum. Finally, try cutting your bananas into bite-size chunks and then make a sandwich with banana-peanut butter-banana before you freeze it. If you’re allergic to peanut butter then you can substitute sunflower butter for the peanut butter.

Banana Popsicles are Part of a Healthy Lifestyle!

Summer is a season for frozen treats – ice cream, sherbet, traditional popsicles and novelties of every color, shape and size. Though tempting, resist these high sugar and high calorie choices as you gravitate to nature’s banana popsicle. It is, after all, part of your commitment to find healthier foods and treats for yourself and your family. Join me on Facebook to gain inspiration, tips and tiny recipes for a healthy kitchen. Or, make a modest investment  in my Menu/Recipe e-book bundle which represents a huge investment in your future health!

Will you go for a simple banana popsicle or the fancy kind?
