Learning How to Make Fruit Salad!

If you are determined to make healthy meals and snacks, then learning how to make a fruit salad is a good skill to have. You might want to start with 3 or 4 fruits in your salad and then branch out with seasonal favorites as the year goes by. What you will probably find out is that there are many, many fruit combinations you love. And, guess what, every one of them is super healthy!

How to Make Fruit Salad Step-By-Step!

1. Think about what fruits you like and pick out 3 or 4: Anything goes here from fresh strawberries, apples and bananas to canned pineapple to frozen blueberries. Even dried fruit tastes great in a fruit salad.

2. Make a grocery list & go shopping: To make a fruit salad for 1 person takes a very small amount of fruit versus making a large salad for a holiday party or pot luck dinner. Add the fruits you choose to your shopping list and think carefully as you select the amount you need.

3. Prepare your salad with a cutting board, knife and bowl: Set up your work space and wash the fruits you are using. Cut them carefully into simple shapes and place them in your bowl.

4. Mix your salad & garnish it: With a large spoon or salad tongs, very gently mix your fruit salad. To make it look prettier you can garnish it with a fresh piece of mint like I did, above. Or, you can add a spoonful of your favorite yogurt to the top. If you like spices, then you can sprinkle it with cinnamon or nutmeg for more flavor.

Learning How To Make Fruit Salad is A Step Toward Nutritious Habits!

Sometimes I think we are all ‘in training’ for more nutritious habits and mastering fruit salad is an example of how to take a step in the right direction. Healthier habits take time and practice. So, as you take time to plan meals, be sure to add in the fruit salad as a meal side, snack or dessert and you’ll be rewarded with a colorful and sweet taste. Not only that, you’ll be practicing more nutritious habits! For encouragement and new ideas, I offer a daily facebook tip, weekly blog and monthly website features. Please join me on all 3!
