September 18, 2010 By Cindy Silver

Get a Grip on Breakfast

There’s no two ways about it — breakfast is not to be missed. Read on for 3 simple solutions to your breakfast dilemma and a fun video.

Why Eat Breakfast?

Energy, clear thinking and healthier weight are 3 top reasons never to skip breakfast. Making careful, nutritious choices for the morning meal makes good sense, too.

3 Simple Choices for Breakfast

Make it quick and simple, like this, or try a recipe with nutritious ingredients:

1. Hardboiled egg sandwich on whole wheat bread or toast + orange or pear + 1% milk

2. Oat cereal with raisins & walnuts + canned pineapple + 1% milk

3. Whole grain crackers with peanut butter & jam + apple + low fat vanilla yogurt

Shopping List for Breakfast

eggs, whole grain bread, whole grain tortilla, nut butter, fresh and canned fruit, 1% milk, 1% yogurt, jam, oat cereal

When it’s this easy, no one should miss breakfast! Thanks for your tips Cindy! One of my favorite quick breakfasts is an over medium egg with a little cayenne pepper. It gives me lots of flavor and very little effort.

Thanks, Lindsay, for your tip about the egg + cayenne pepper. Sounds like a great waker-upper! Three cheers for breakfast!
