Cinnamon Mandarinas with Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a Recipe from Spain

November 18, 2019 By Cindy Silver

Cinnamon Mandarinas Recipe
Here’s a creative, Mediterranean dessert you will love.

Here’s a dessert recipe that will tickle your taste buds as it protects your body and brain from oxidative stress, inflammation, and aging.

These sound like impossible claims, right? In fact, by combining the nutrition of a sweet, juicy, high fiber tangerine-mandarina (or orange) with the nutrition of delicious extra virgin olive oil, the health benefits are amazing. Vitamin C in the citrus fruit is a powerful antioxidant that can reduce oxidative stress and inflammation throughout the body. High quality, fresh extra virgin olive oil is a superhero of the Mediterranean-DASH Diet meal pattern and its positive effect on brain health is clear. Cinnamon finishes the dessert’s flavor palette with a gentle, spicy kick.

Cinnamon Tangerine-Mandarinas with Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) – 4 servings

Kids can help by measuring the ingredients, drizzling the EVOO, and sprinkling the cinnamon, with supervision.

Ingredients:

6                                         Tangerine-Mandarinas, seedless

4 teaspoons                     Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), high quality & fresh

½-1 teaspoon                  Cinnamon, ground

Instructions:

  1. Peel tangerine-mandarinas and discard skin. Keep each fruit whole, do not peel apart segments.
  2. With a sharp knife and cutting board, cut fruits into 1/3 inch slices in a round shape. Arrange rounds onto individual plates or a serving platter in one layer.
  3. Measure out EVOO and drizzle it evenly over tangerine-mandarina slices.
  4. Sprinkle cinnamon evenly on the very top of slices.
