Reasonable Resolutions!
What makes a resolution reasonable? A reasonable resolution is one that:
• Doesn’t judge
• Isn’t impossible
• Makes you feel better instead of exhausted, frustrated, and wanting to give up
This year let’s make a resolution to promote our well being: mental, physical, and spiritual. Let’s realign our behaviors instead of drastically changing them.
Get Started!
Start with a weekly goal. Every week, choose a goal. Write it down on a sticky note. Stick it on
your mirror or microwave, somewhere where you will see it daily. Here are a few suggestions:
• Drink more water. Carry a water bottle with you everywhere, including at home and on
the go. Add orange or lemon slices to keep it interesting.
• Have at least one fruit or vegetable at every meal. Remember to vary your choices so
you don’t get bored!
• Take time for you. Relax with tea and a book or stretch to calming music.
• Choose a healthy recipe for you and your family to make together. Try this Easy Chicken Salad recipe or this Easy Lentil Soup recipe.
• Keep your mind sharp by doing a crossword puzzle or Sudoku in the morning or before bed.
Stay Focused!
Instead of focusing on losing 10 pounds by the end of January or running 15 miles every
week in 2014, choose a reasonable resolution to realign your well being and be the best you. Weekly
goals can be considered miniature milestones. Be sure to reward your accomplishments every once in a
while with something fun, like a new water bottle or a new workout song for your iPod!
While these are weekly goals, you don’t have to forget about them on Monday! Try to turn
these goals into habits to keep you on track to being the best you that you can be.
Celebrate Success!
Keep a goal journal, save your sticky notes, or even make a sticky note wall to see all the goals you have
accomplished! Come February 1st, with four goals down, you’ll feel like a new person!
