Pot of veg soup
There’s nothing more comforting than a big bowl of homemade soup!

A Big Pot of Soup

A big pot of homemade vegetable soup is like a big hug from someone you love. It warms you up, fills you up and keeps you coming back for more. Not only that. Homemade vegetable soup is a tasty mixture of fresh flavors and healthy nutrition, and there’s no limit to what you can cut, shred or chop and add into your tasty soup broth. Some vegetables I like in my homemade vegetable soup are onions, garlic, celery, Bell peppers, carrots, canned tomatoes, chickpeas, cabbage, zucchini, turnips, and parsley. Mmm…it’s so good!

My Homemade Soup & Easy Meals blog gives you 4 homemade soup recipes to choose from so take a look, get out your big soup pot and get cooking!

Handy Batch Cooking Tips

If you’re interested in cooking less and eating more homemade meals – and who isn’t? – then batch cooking is a strategy you’ll want to master. Batch simply means to make a lot at one cooking session and then to eat it up in 2, 3, or 4 meal sessions. Some recipes lend themselves to batch cooking better than others. Here are some good ones to try:

Handy Batch Cooking Recipes to Try

Chili – This Southwestern stew may be cooked in a big pot, like soup. It’s easy to double the recipe, then refrigerate (up to 3 days) or freeze (up to 3 months) the leftovers for another meal. Easy recipes here.

Lasagna – This layered Italian pasta may be made in a larger pan, or in 2 smaller pans. It’s easy to double the recipe, then refrigerate (up to 3 days) or freeze (up to 3 months) the leftovers for another meal. Easy recipe here.

Meatloaf – This very American comfort food may be made as 2 meatloaves at a time. It’s easy to double the recipe, then refrigerate (up to 3 days) or freeze (up to 3 months) the leftovers for another meal. Easy recipe here.

Batch Cooking in Your Kitchen

All it takes is a big pot with a lid and some fresh, fun ingredients to make a batch recipe of soup, chili, lasagna or meatloaf in your kitchen. You can cook in a batch with a friend, with a son or daughter, with a mom, dad, aunt or uncle. So, don’t wait – give it a try with the tips and recipes above – today! Grab this bonus set of handy, weeknight menus and recipes, too. Bon appetit!
