Vegetable soup

Soup Comforts as it Nourishes! If there is a perfect comfort food then it must be soup. I've been a soup lover for most of my life and one of my favorites is homemade vegetable soup. The great thing about homemade vegetable soup is that you can make it so many different ways. You can add lean stew beef or not. You can add leftover cooked chicken or not. You can add fresh veggies or frozen veggies. Basically, anything goes. Here are 2 more delicious soups you can make, in your kitchen. I fell in love with Slovenian Sauerkraut & Potato Soup when I once traveled to Slovenia. And, I also … [Read more...] about Homemade Vegetable Soup!

Hummus ingredients

How to Make Easy Hummus! Makes about 1 1/2 cups 1. Gather your ingredients. 1 can, 15-16 oz, Chickpeas, also called Garbanzo Beans 1 Fresh Lemon, juice only, about 1/4 cup 1-2 cloves Fresh Garlic 1 teaspoon Salt 1/2 cup Roasted Sesame Seeds, or 1/4 cup tahini (sesame seed paste). Eat Like Your Grandmother Did

Strawberries

Eat with the Season My grandmothers both loved to eat whatever was 'in season.' One grandmother was a backyard gardener and she grew tasty vegetables as well as beautiful flowers. Along with my grandfather, she set up their yard as a neat kitchen garden. My other grandmother didn't grow her own food, but she was particular about choosing what was freshest and fit the season. In May-June, both my grandmothers ate strawberries grown very locally. When we visited, we gobbled them up! Cook with a Simple Recipe My grandmothers learned to cook from their mothers. Many of the recipes they … [Read more...] about Eat Like Your Grandmother Did

Meatloaf for Dinner!

September 17, 2024 By Cindy Silver

Meatloaf is comfort food

Meatloaf is Comfort Food I have been eating meatloaf all my life and I bet you have, too. Lately I've gotten creative and have tried some new ingredients in my meatloaf as a way to lighten up this classic comfort food. Fresh and dried herbs and spices are normally fun to add to meatloaf, and using oatmeal instead of bread crumbs is a neat way to add a whole grain to the recipe. The meatloaf in this picture at the left has an entire 10 oz package of thawed and drained, frozen spinach in it, too. Tasty? You bet it is! Easy Spinach & Herb Meatloaf Recipe 1 pound lean ground beef 1 … [Read more...] about Meatloaf for Dinner!
